The training we offer is based on scientifically proven methodology and aligns with the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA^®), the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT), the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC), and other established animal welfare organizations.

What Vaccinations Does My Dog Need Before Training?

Dogs participating in training at Camp must be up-to-date on Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella vaccinations before attending. Additional vaccination requirements may apply depending on which Camp services your dog is enrolled in. If you’re unsure whether your pup is current, your vet can confirm what’s on file before your first session.

Can Puppies Attend Dog Training?

Yes. Dogs of any age can benefit from positive reinforcement-based training, and starting early can build confidence faster. Mental stimulation from structured training can help reduce behavioral issues as your puppy develops. How Long Does a Training Session Last?

Session length varies depending on the type of training and what your dog is working on. A typical session can run anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes. In-Camp training sessions are built into your dog’s existing daycare or boarding visit, so the timing integrates naturally without adding a separate trip to your schedule.

What Happens After a Session?

After each session, your trainer can walk you through what your dog worked on and where they made progress. You’ll also get guidance on how to reinforce those behaviors at home between visits. That consistency between Camp and home is one of the most important parts of the process. Dogs build reliable habits when the same cues and rewards are applied in both environments.

Level I - 1/2 Hour Basic Adult Dog Training 6-week class for dogs over 4 months. Basic manners and behavioral issues Absolutely No Refunds will be given after the 1st class has been taken.	$300.00
Level II - 1/2 Hour Advanced Dog Training 6-week class for dogs over 4 months. Advanced behavior skills like heel, place, distractions, etc... Absolutely No Refunds will be given after the 1st class has been taken.	$300.00
Level III – ½ Hour Public Polishing / Canine Good Citizenship (CGC) 6-week class with intense focus on solidifying behaviors. Can be used as prep for Canine Good Citizen test. Prerequisite of Level II or trainer approval required for Level III training. Absolutely No Refunds will be given after the 1st class has been taken.	$360.00

How Reward-Based Training Works

Our Certified Trainers use clicker training as a core tool in obedience classes. The clicker marks the exact moment your dog performs a behavior correctly, giving them instant, clear feedback. A reward follows immediately: praise, a treat, food, or a favorite toy, depending on what motivates your dog. Over time, as your dog’s understanding of each behavior becomes reliable, the clicker and treats are gradually phased out.

The principle is straightforward: dogs repeat what earns them something good. Rather than working to avoid a correction, your dog is motivated to engage, try, and succeed. That shift in dynamic is what keeps sessions feeling like play rather than pressure. Dogs trained this way can stay confident, curious, and eager to work, whether they’re a six-month-old puppy or a five-year-old dog learning new skills.

The methodology is designed to be effective across all ages, breeds, and behavior histories. There’s no single personality type that thrives with reward-based training. The approach adapts to the dog. Dog Training Combined with Daycare & Boarding in North Raleigh

Most standalone trainers in Raleigh offer lessons in isolation. You book a session, your dog learns something, and then they go home. What happens in between is up to you. At Camp Bow Wow North Raleigh, training is part of a full day your dog is already having. Our In-Camp training option lets a Certified Trainer work with your dog during an existing daycare or boarding visit, building one-on-one time directly into the stay.

That integration matters. A dog spending the day in an active social environment, playing with other dogs, responding to Camp Counselors, and navigating different spaces, is already practicing the kind of focus and responsiveness that training builds. When a Certified Trainer steps in during that same visit, the obedience work happens in a real-world context, not a sterile classroom.

Camp Counselors monitor dogs throughout the day in both indoor and outdoor play areas. The consistent daily interaction between staff and campers creates natural opportunities to reinforce trained behaviors between formal sessions. For busy Raleigh pet parents, that structure also eliminates a separate trip: boarding, daycare, grooming, and training are all available under one roof, with transparent, all-inclusive pricing and no hidden fees across services.

The three levels of our obedience classes are:

Level I—Basic: Builds the foundation of reliable commands like sit, down, leave it, come when called, and leash walking.
Level II—Intermediate: Learn how to get your dog to heel by your side, go to their mat, and add distance plus distractions to all their behaviors.
Level III—Public Polishing/CGC Prep: This level teaches your dog to sit when you greet a stranger, heel in a crowd, and more. They will now be prepared for the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) exam.

In-Camp & Private Training

Camp Bow Wow North Raleigh offers several options for pet parents who prefer their pup receives private training. Our Certified Trainers can work with your dog while they attend Camp, spending one-on-one time with them teaching behaviors you would like to work on. We can also provide training services for you and your dog in a private setting, based on your needs.
