The Camper Interview & a Day at Camp

Before any dog joins our play yards, they complete a Camper Interview. This one-on-one session lets our team assess temperament, play style, and comfort level in a group setting. Afterward, you’ll receive a brief report from our Camp Counselors® on how your pup adjusted. It’s a straightforward signal of how seriously we take what happens inside our facility.

Once cleared, dogs are grouped by size, temperament, and energy level so every play session feels natural and well matched. Certified Camp Counselors® supervise all play, providing gentle guidance and redirecting behaviors like mounting, excessive barking, or rough play before they escalate. Scheduled rest breaks prevent overstimulation and keep energy levels balanced throughout the day. As your dog grows and their social confidence evolves, groupings are updated to reflect how they like to play.

Safety Standards at Camp Bow Wow Houston

Our Certified Camp Counselors®

Every Camp Counselor® is extensively trained in dog behavior, pet CPR, and first aid before they ever step into a play yard. We maintain a balanced staff-to-dog ratio so every Camper gets attentive, consistent supervision, including close monitoring for any signs of illness or stress.

Snout-to-Tail Assessments

Every dog receives a Snout-to-Tail Assessment at check-in each day. This brief head-to-tail review helps our team spot potential health concerns early before they have a chance to affect your dog or others in the play group.

Camper Requirements

All dogs must complete the Camper Interview and be current on vaccinations before joining the play yards. Dogs must also be spayed or neutered by 7 months of age to participate in group play.

DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis/Adenovirus, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus)
Rabies

Facility Cleanliness & Play Yard Rules

Every inch of our facility, including play yards, water bowls, and all surfaces, is cleaned and sanitized daily using pet-safe products. Toys aren’t permitted in the play yards, which helps prevent resource guarding and reduce choking hazards.

Live Webcam Access

Our Live Camper Cams℠ let you watch your dog play from any computer, tablet, or mobile device during Camp hours. Cameras are accessible through the Camp Bow Wow website and app, so you can check in from wherever the day takes you.
