How Our Dog Boarding Process Near Charlotte Works
Planning your dog’s boarding at Camp Bow Wow Fort Mill is straightforward, with every detail designed for your convenience and your pup’s safety:
- Book your stay: Secure your dog’s place either by phone or online. We recommend reserving early for holidays and peak travel periods, which often see increased demand in the Charlotte area.
- Behavioral assessment: For first-time boarders, we require a complimentary meet-and-greet to help ensure every dog is comfortable and ready for group play.
- Vaccination records: All dogs should be current on core vaccinations such as rabies, Bordetella, and distemper/parvo before their stay.
- Drop-off: Bring your pup and clearly labeled personal items. Our team will confirm dietary, medical, and comfort instructions at check-in for the smoothest transition possible.
- Pickup: When you return, your pup will be clean and content. Optional grooming at pickup means your dog is as fresh as they are happy to see you.
Our dog boarding service is designed to feel simple and stress-free, even if you are arranging care at the last minute or coordinating travel out of Charlotte Douglas International Airport. We walk you through each step, explain what to expect during your dog’s stay, and offer suggestions based on your dog’s age, activity level, and temperament so you can make confident decisions about their care.

What Makes Our Doggie Boarding Different
When you compare options for caring for your pup while you are away, it can be hard to know which dog boarding service will truly match your expectations. At Camp Bow Wow Fort Mill, we focus on creating a warm, engaging environment where dogs can play, rest, and feel at ease, rather than simply providing a place to sleep. Our open-play philosophy, small-group supervision, and clear communication with pet parents help you feel comfortable choosing us over a more traditional hotel.
Because we serve families from both North Carolina and South Carolina, including commuters from Charlotte’s South End, Dilworth, and surrounding neighborhoods, we understand that every household has a different routine. We take time to learn about your dog’s normal day, including feeding schedules, exercise preferences, and any calming rituals you use at home, and we weave those details into their stay. This thoughtful approach helps even first-time boarders relax, so you can focus on your travel or work commitments without worrying about how your dog is adjusting.
Here are a few ways our Camp stands out for local pet parents:
- Consistent communication – We encourage you to call us with questions before, during, and after a stay so you always feel connected to your dog’s experience.
- Flexible stay lengths – Whether you need a single night, a long weekend, or an extended trip, we help you choose the setup that best fits your plans.
- Thoughtful transitions – We pay close attention at drop-off and pickup, offering tips to make coming and going easier for dogs who may be sensitive to change.
Frequently Asked Questions
What Should I Bring When Boarding My Dog?
Bring your dog’s food, any required medications, up-to-date vaccination records, and a favorite toy or bedding if desired. All items must be labeled and meet our safety guidelines, aligned with local regulations.
To help your pup settle in quickly, we encourage you to pack enough food for the entire stay in pre-portioned containers so our team can easily follow your routine. If your dog has a sensitive stomach or is on a prescription diet recommended by a Charlotte-area veterinarian, including written feeding instructions allows our dog boarding service to mirror your at-home schedule as closely as possible.
Are Dogs Supervised Overnight?
Yes, our facility has staff on-site 24/7. Your dog is supervised and monitored at all times for safety and comfort, including during overnight hours.
This round-the-clock presence is especially reassuring for dogs who are new to boarding or may be nervous in a different environment, and it offers peace of mind to pet parents who are traveling far from the Charlotte region. If your dog needs a late-night potty break or extra reassurance, our team is there to check on them and make any adjustments needed to keep them comfortable.
Can I Check on My Dog While I’m Away?
You can view your dog remotely at any time using our secure live webcams, available throughout the day for your reassurance.
Many families tell us they love tuning in from hotels, airports, or even while visiting friends in nearby cities like Rock Hill and Gastonia to see their dogs playing and relaxing. The webcams also give you a sense of how your dog interacts with new friends at our doggie boarding near Charlotte location, which can be helpful if you are planning future extended stays.
What Vaccinations Are Required for Boarding Near Charlotte?
All dogs must have current rabies, Bordetella, and distemper/parvo vaccinations, as required by Mecklenburg County law for all boarding facilities.
If you are unsure whether your dog’s vaccines are up to date, we recommend contacting your regular veterinarian in the Charlotte metro area before scheduling a stay. Providing clear records in advance helps our team confirm eligibility quickly, so your reservation with our dog boarding company near Charlotte can be finalized without delays.
How Far in Advance Should I Book?
We recommend booking as early as possible, especially during peak travel periods or holidays, as demand for dog boarding in Charlotte can be high.
Popular travel times such as summer vacation, school breaks, and major holidays often fill up weeks in advance, particularly for longer stays or when families are coordinating multiple pets. If your schedule is flexible, our team can suggest dates when our overnight dog boarding near Charlotte is more open, giving you additional options and helping you secure the setup that works best for your trip.

Camp Bow Wow requires all boarding dogs to be up to date on their DHPP vaccine to keep them healthy and able to play safely with other dogs. It’s recommended that the Leptospirosis vaccine also be included annually, as it’s more common, can be deadly to dogs, and can spread to humans.
The DHPP vaccine protects against four serious and highly contagious diseases: Distemper, Hepatitis (Adenovirus), Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus. These illnesses can affect a dog’s respiratory, digestive, and nervous systems, and can spread quickly between dogs, making vaccination important.
Puppies start the DHPP series at 6–8 weeks old, with two boosters given at 3-week intervals, followed by a third booster a year later. Adult dogs receive booster shots as recommended by their veterinarian, with the Distemper and Parvovirus portion typically given every 1–3 years.
In addition to the DHPP vaccine, the Rabies and Bordetella vaccines are also required for all boarding dogs at all our locations. For more information on our vaccine requirements for dog boarding, contact your local Camp Bow Wow.
